MY RELIGION...

NO!!! My religion is not a miracle tent!!!

NO!!! I'll bring your husband back in three days!!!

NO!!! I cannot take a father (mother) away from the company of his children and the wife who loves him, to give him over to his sexual delusions!!!

NO!!! I am not a hired killer, to whom you are proposing payment for the murder of a malcontent!!!

NO!!! I cannot magically solve your financial problems. If this were possible, I would solve mine!!!

Many see our religion as a last resort, when everything else has failed, and believe we have an obligation to do and endure.

NO!!! I, the orishas, and entities, my God, have no obligation to cater to your desires and delusions, to fix mistakes that have dragged on for a lifetime. You're not going to get rich just because you're in a terreiro!!!

NO!!! MY RELIGION IS NOT THAT!!!

We are a religion, so if you come, walk on my soil with humility, with an open heart, without haste.

Ask less and be more grateful, accept treatment and heal the ills of your body and soul, become better and worthy of your worth. What I can and should do, if you accept it, is give you the strength to fight for what is best and most just for your life.

Religions exist to guide us in the process of evolution, to guide us to God and make us better people, and to add values, such as respect for our neighbors, for the elderly, for the young, respect for family, humility, charity, honesty, and finding inner peace.

There is no, nor can there be, any other reason for religion other than to reconnect man to his essence, to God—and only this.

We make better human beings, without selfishness or exaggerated vanity, and we learn from the humility of the white color of my clothes, walking with our feet on the ground and on our knees praying, singing, and giving thanks.

"The dances, the songs in a strange language," "the strange clothes," the meals and offerings—these are just my way of praying, of getting closer to the sacred and making contact with God.

We were born with nothing, and when I die, we will take nothing with us.

We must strive for spiritual evolution, becoming better every day; no one can take that away from us.

For true values are spiritual ones!
